Wedding Photography Addington Palace | Chinelo + Okey

Wedding Photography Addington Palace

Wedding photography Addington Palace

I was thrilled to be invited to be an Addington Palace wedding photographer for Chinelo and Okey’s wedding. Chinelo and Okey are a wonderful couple who are very much in love, and I was excited to be charged with their Nigerian wedding photography at Addington Palace in Croydon.

The venue itself is exquisite, and pre-dates the Doomsday book. The palace has a rich history of Royal weddings, famous visitors and links with the Church. It is located within over 160 acres of beautifully maintained gardens, and is located just 12 miles from central London.

When I met with Chinelo and Okey before the wedding, we discussed photography styles and what the couple wanted from a wedding album. Chinelo and Okey were both keen for the wedding album to capture as much of the day as possible, and for it to tell the story of their special day. I specialise in reportage style photography, and both Chinelo and Okey were keen for me to use this photography technique to capture the spirit of their big day. I worked alongside Gold Lens Photography at this wedding, each of us capturing different aspects of the celebrations.

I was excited to be using documentary style wedding photography at Addington Palace in Croydon, Surrey. At Addington Palace, there is wood panelling on the walls, the floors are made of striking hardwood, and the ceilings are rich in historical character. The staircases twist downwards, accompanied by wrought iron detailing, and red carpets line the stairs. It is a place of elegance and beauty, and I was very honoured to call myself an Addington Palace wedding photographer for the day.

I was invited to join Chinelo and her bridesmaids as they prepared for the day. When I arrived, Chinelo was opening some gifts given to her by her best friends, and it was great to be able to capture this moment of friendship as they all gathered round to see her open it. There is a beautiful of photograph of Chinelo enjoying a glass of champagne during the preparations. Her hair is done, but she has yet to step into her big white dress. She looks happy and excited, which pretty much sums up the mood in the room that morning.

One of my favourite photographs from the day shows a private moment between the newlyweds. As the couple shared a kiss inside their elegant wedding car, I took a photograph of the car outside the stunning wedding venue. It’s a beautiful image that captures both the elegance and the romance of the day. The photograph of the couple’s first dance is equally as lovely. As Chinelo and Okey stands, leaning against each other, forehead to forehead on a deserted dancefloor, there is no doubt that they are deeply in love.

The dancefloor at Chinelo and Okey’s wedding was vibrant, alive and busy all night. Chinelo and Okey are both fantastic dancers, and it was great to photograph a number of their dances together throughout the evenings. It’s always exciting to be asked to photograph the evening party of a wedding, not least because the dancefloor is always such a fun place to photograph. There is a great photograph of Chinelo and Okey sharing a dance late in the night. They are twisting with each other, Chinelo’s face steeped in determination, as the crowd around the clap and laugh. The hardwood floors glisten beneath them, and the wood panelled columns tower above them, as they daney together below the sparkling chandeliers.

How romantic and pretty Addington Palace!! I always wanted to have such a pretty wedding location venue for my wedding but we had invited only a few guests due to low budget so we had a simple church wedding.
